PARASORB® / PARASORB® HD / GENTA-COLL resorb® MKG are absorbable wound covers and tamponades that have been manufactured in a very specific procedure from collagen of equine origin (from horse tendons) in accordance with the strictest quality standards. This procedure evolved from the production of membranes for covering defects in the meninges (dura mater), and uses the same biomatrix as the starting material, thus guaranteeing a product of the highest purity and exceptional biocompatibility.
The indications for PARASORB / PARASORB HD / GENTA-COLL resorb MKG are:
- Hemostasis after tooth extraction or oral and maxillofacial interventions
- Covering bone defects
- Local hemostasis and tamponade in clean, clean-contaminated and contaminated wound cavities
- For hemostasis following tooth extraction, especially after oral and maxillofacial surgery with a high risk of infection, we recommend the use of GENTA-COLL resorb MKG
Effective local hemostasis and promotion of wound healing
PARASORB / PARASORB HD / GENTA-COLL resorb MKG have a positive influence on blood coagulation: after contact with the blood, thrombocytes aggregate at the collagen fibres and trigger a coagulation reaction.
Hemostyptics based on collagen are significantly more effective than gelatinous sponges or cellulose. They are rapidly and completely absorbed by the body, while the native collagen promotes granulation and epithelialisation (Silverstein 1981, Stemberger 1992). Collagen not only creates a 'guide rail' for the tissue reaction, which promotes the active influx and adherence of divisible cells, it also provides a chemotactic stimulus.
PARASORB / PARASORB HD / GENTA-COLL resorb MKG are able to absorb large amounts of fluids on account of their sponge-like structure. By virtue of this purely mechanical process, discarded material, bacteria and fibrinous layers are taken up by the absorption of secretions. The loose filling of the wound and the effective blood coagulation prevent the development of a wound hematoma.
