Multifilament long-term implants
POLYESTER and SUPOLENE are braided, non-absorbable materials that find widespread use on account of their flexible structure.
POLYESTER
POLYESTER is a synthetic, non-absorbable thread that is manufactured by polycondensation of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. The multifilament thread material POLYESTER is manufactured by a dry spinning process and is stretched, precision-braided and tempered. The surface structure is particularly well-suited for achieving high knot security.

SUPOLENE
Like POLYESTER, SUPOLENE is a synthetic and non-absorbable thread manufactured by the polycondensation of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. The multifilament thread material SUPOLENE is manufactured by a dry spinning process and is stretched, precision-braided and tempered.
During production SUPOLENE is given a special, finishing surface coating that minimises the sawing effect when passing through tissue and knot run-down and significantly lowers the capillarity. The material is hydrophobic, non-ageing and thus particularly well-suited for cardiac and vascular surgery for fixating implants and prostheses.
