RESORBA® has continued to expand its product line of biomaterials for regenerative dental surgery with the market launch of the PARASORB Sombrero® Membrane-Cone at IDS 2011.This new and so far unique combination of an absorbable collagen membrane and an absorbable collagen cone in a single product serves to cover and, at the same time, fill the extraction socket as part of socket preservation.
In the same way, PARASORB Sombrero® is used in the treatment of smaller bone defects as part of GBR.
Both components – membrane and cone - are firmly connected together for easy and reliable handling.They consist of an equine (from horse) type 1 collagen without chemical additives or cross-linking agents. Their respective physical properties have been specifically tailored to different tasks by means of special production techniques:
The dense nature of the membrane component prevents in-growth of connective tissue and thus guarantees a reliable barrier function, as well as closure sealed against saliva.The special surface microstructure allows growth coverage with bone-forming cells, as well as rapid epithelisation above the membrane.
The extreme absorbency of the cone component leads to rapid stabilisation of the coagulated blood, an important requirement for mechanical stabilisation of the sensitive vestibular bone lamella and their rapid reconnection to the body’s own blood vessel system.The collagen used is given a special structure through the production process. A defined regeneration matrix arises with very good angioconductive and osteoconductive properties.
This is a prerequisite for subsequent stable, bony healing and therefore for the extensive preservation of the alveolar ridge volume.
The use of PARASORB Sombrero® only requires minimal surgery on the edge of the extraction socket.So the soft tissue is preserved and its natural structure and vascular supply maintained. This is of the utmost importance for problem-free wound healing and an outstanding aesthetic and functional long-term result.
