Wound closure

In nature, injured or destroyed tissue layers must be rapidly closed in order to maintain the integrity and function of the organism. In humans, the repair of destroyed or lost structures by self-regenerative forces is defined by different phases of wound healing.

The development of surgical suture materials for reparative and supporting wound closure is tightly intertwined with the development of surgical techniques and should therefore never be underestimated or ignored.

Surgical sutures were initially an important but often inadequate aid for hemostasis or in wound adaptation. The evolution to sterile, innovative, reliable and biocompatible materials enabled the development of entirely new surgical techniques and disciplines.

Application-oriented problems as the driving force for innovative product development

In all technological advances the user, with his or her specific requirements, is significantly involved in the development of new products. RESORBA places equal emphasis on the mechanical characteristics of the materials for temporary or permanent tissue adaptation as well as on the demands of tissue tolerability and handling.
