When using non-absorbable suture materials as a long-term implant the demand for durable reliability with simultaneous biotolerability takes priority. These requirements are fulfilled by all of the RESORBA suture materials, regardless of the very different raw materials used.
Due to the chemical and physical properties of the raw materials and various finishing processes used in production, non-absorbable materials are optimally tolerated by the organism. In the case of superficial application, for example as a skin suture, removal of the suture material following its intended loss of function can be achieved without any problem.
When choosing the correct material the following must be taken into account:
- Indication: Which function does the material have to fulfil?
- Handling: Which suturing and knotting techniques are being used?
- Thread structure: Which tissue layers or types are involved?
